I've just uploaded a new PMX beta to

http://icking-music-archive.org/software/pmx/pmx2622.zip

There is one new option in the "K" command: For key changes after the start
of a piece, "Kn..." will suppress the printed naturals when changing from
flat- to sharp-key and vice-versa.

But the main reason for this release is that it has numerous
behind-the-scenes tweaks intended to make all kinds of transpositions work,
and in particular to make a requested MIDI file come out right. This has
been rather tricky to work out owing to the many possibilities for
transposition:
1. Transpose everything by the same amount: printed score, parts, and MIDI;
2. Some transposing instruments entered in concert key but printed
transposed in the score;
3. Some transposing instruments entered transposed and printed transposed in
the score;
4. All parts entered in concert key and printed in concert key in score, but
some parts printed transposed in parts created by scor2prt.

In the last three cases the MIDI will come out in concert key.

Things are further complicated if there's a key change midway through a
piece.

I've written a tutorial with an example file for each of the four cases
listed above, including a later key change, located here:
http://icking-music-archive.org/software/pmx/TranspositionInPMX.pdf
This is also included in pmx2622.zip and will later be incorporated into the
PMX manual.

I would VERY much appreciate people experimenting with the kinds of
situations explained in the tutorial, and any other transposition/key-change
situations you can think of, and report back on the mailing list with bug
reports, questions, errors in the tutorial, or suggestions.
