Here's how to substitute rests for notes. The \zcharnote commands gobble
up the pitches of the notes and so keep the octave register right. Don't
forget the a in the xtuplet main note, to cause separate stems in the

Your questions to the list so far have been about MusiXTeX only. Have you
tried the preprocessor PMX? It takes care of dotted rests. Can't say whether
it would have helped with your vertical spacing problem. But overall it will
greatly simplify typesetting just about any music.

Christian and Adam-
I'm curious why you wanted to add more vertical space below the title. If
you could post the PMX source for your first page that would be helpful, or
Christian, if it's already in the archive, just tell me which piece it is.

If you could post the PMX source
I compiled your Texy way and used gsview to make a pdf (just like I do
with the manual). Here's what I get when I copy and paste the text from the
pdf:
cou...@obs- nice.fr
Would the blank space stop the bad guys?

Any idea what's going on, or why no one has flagged this problem before?

I have regenerated musixdoc.pdf with GS version 8.60, replaced it in
musixtex114.zip, and uploaded both files to the NEW home of the archive.

altered default starting and ending positions, while postscript ties have
subtly but fundamentally different shapes than slurs.

have anything sticking above the staff, or if you don't care
about crashes, it looks like -10 is about the right \figdrop, and you could
set it at that once and then forget it. The alternative is to fine tune it
by redefining \fixdrop as needed.

One thing I forgot to mention: If you want even finer control on the
height
of any individual figure, you can get that using this feature
introduced in
2.502: The height of a figured bass vertical stack can now be
adjusted
upward
, with no
in-line TeX, and certainly without creating separate files for different
parts of the score.

Oops, never mind! I sure did miss the point. I'll have a look into why the
later ones came out as cautionary, but the real TeXperts will probably have
an answer before I do.
