Absent the availability of SGML or XML validation for HTML5, aside from a "validator" at W3C, one needs to know what will pass the major browsers. The last time I checked: In HTML 5 as "text/html" use (with space) to enable xml well-formedness except in foreign name spaces such as MathML, where,

Follow-up Comment #2, bug #434 (project tex4ht): I'm not sure about this, Michal. If it's only claiming to be "traditional" HTML, not XHTML or HTML5, those XML-ish statements actually break browsers and validation. I've tried to add and the like to plain HTML before, and it didn't work out well.
