Friends, The premier cave conservation and management meeting in the world, the NCKMS, happens every other year. 2015 happens to be one of those years. There is a full week of workshops, talks, and field trips (and parties!), and an opportunity to interact with the movers and shakers of the cave management and conservation community, including representatives from the NSS, the NPS, USFS, BLM, USFWS, ACCA, TNC, many state agencies from all over the country, show cave operators, cave conservancies, and even foreign cavers. Details about this year's event can be found at http://www.cave-research.org/NCKMS2015/index.html.
This year's conference is the week immediately after TCR, in Cave City, Kentucky. I plan to start my drive after getting home from TCR and repacking on that Sunday, and arrive in KY that Monday, hopefully in the early afternoon. I am wondering if anybody, particularly from the Austin/San Antonio area, would like to carpool with me. If I take the Tahoe, I can easily fit four other people and their luggage. This keeps everyone's costs down, keep us awake while driving, and maybe even puts us in earlier if we swap out drivers. It's about a 13 hour drive from Austin to MACA. Let me know off list if you are interested, even if you aren't yet totally committed to going, and we'll work out the details. Early registration ends 6 September, so I'll be registering soon to save even more money. Catch me at a grotto meeting or just give me a yell if you want to find out more about the NCKMS and what it can do for you. Jim "Crash" Kennedy cavercr...@gmail.com 512-663-2287
