Hello Fellow Cavers, Rappelling down into the Devil's Sinkhole was my first experience in a vertical cave. It almost turned out badly...I was the first volunteer in (youthful bravado). As i neared the bottom the Goldline rope had me spinning such that it got balled up around my legs before I was able to set foot on solid ground. With considerable good luck and effort I finally got everything untangled and went on to enjoy the cave with buddies from the newly-formed Southwest Texas State College grotto.
Anyway, the Devil's Sinkhole Society is having an event this October 1 and 2, celebrating 50 years since the cavern was listed as a National Natural Landmark.
