By whose definition? Where did you get that dictionary? Both show an extreme 
lack of practical consideration of the subject. It's the work of some minimum 
wage, geologically ignorant lexicography clerk in a dingy basement office 
somewhere otherwise unidentifiable.

Anybody who would use the terms "traverse across" or "rappel down" or "Joe, 
Bob, and myself went caving," has forfeited all credibility in matters 
grammatical--and lexicographical as well, if I may. 

Sorry, Minton--I'm so ashamed.... I couldn't help myself. All over the floor 
there;   what a mess.
