Since I live in Waco, I only met Bill Mixon a few times through the years at a
TSA Convention or TCR, and when he came out to see what was happening at Kiwi
Sink. Other than knowing Bill from the book reviews he published in the NSS
News, and the AMCS publications he produced, my contact with him was of the
literary nature. The massive amount of work he did for the TSA, AMCS, the TSS
and almost every other literary phase of caving seemed almost humanly
impossible for one person to accomplish. The editing and binding of the AMCS
Activities Newsletter made this into a world class publication. He will be and
is missed. One of the last things he did was to make his home available to the
TSS as the new home of the TSS Library. The TSS Library now has a permanent
home for the TSS Publications, Texas Caver, and maps which will protect those
materials well into the future for next generations of cavers. Thank you very
much Bill for all you did to enhance and preserve the literary history of Texas
and Mexico.
