The NSS (National Speleological Society) website has many cave
ballads that you can listen to. I couldn't find Jan Conn's version
of "Dark as a Dungeon" by song title, and not sure what year it came
out, but I've heard it and it's great. Another one she wrote is one
of my favorites..."The Long Long Crawlway" 1972 Quite a few current and former cavers in Texas--too many to list here--have contributed songs. Barbara MacLeod deserves special mention. Almost all of her songs are original, and have a wide range of style and story, as these examples show . . . whimsical: Plastic Justrite; I Smell Bat Shit; Life Is Like A Carbide Lantern personal: Histoplasmosis; Hollow Hills mesmerizing epic ballads: The Ballad of Cascade Cave; Encounter of the Long Count Keeper Cave Ballads are well worth listening to, a part of caving that can lead to new passages.
