To all:
At approximately 4:50 pm on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008 a 57 year old El Paso man (NOT a caver) on an El Paso Archeological Society trip being led by Mike Bilbo, suffered some sort of traumatic event (heart attack, stroke, ?) in Crystal Crawl, on the way out of the cave. Several Fort Stanton Cave Study Project members assisted in attempts to revive the man, unfortunately, unsuccessfully. Lincoln County EMS was notified and they, along with FSCSP members successfully recovered the body out of the cave by approximately 8 pm.
A more detailed accounting will occur later.

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines, Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in you sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." attributed to Mark Twain, but no record exists of his having written this.
