For those who are interested in Mars but may not have been tuned in a year ago I will repeat my recommendation of the book:

     A Traveler's Guide to Mars
        by William K Hartmann

Mine was published in 2003 by Workman Publishing in NY. There may be subsequent editions. Although the Mars pits and other info has come light since the book came out, it still remains an exceptional introduction to the basic geography, geology, and related fields on yonder planet for those folks who want to have a better understanding of what's going on there and in the scientific pursuit of it. Very easy reading with lots of sidebars and parenthetical information, including studies done by former Texas caver Victor Baker. Many beautiful color photos and well done maps integrated into the text.
