Greetings Cavers, WTF is that?: Join us at the meeting this week for Aubri Jensen presenting us with a field guide to unusual cave formations.
Have you ever seen something in a cave and wondered how it formed or what it can tell us about a cave? Once you start looking, there is an astounding variety of strange, rare, and intriguing cave formations found all over the world. This presentation is an overview of unusual cave formations in the context of how they form and what clues they provide about what may lie beyond them. It is based on information from Cave Minerals of the World, and Dave Bunnel's virtual cave, with an emphasis on formations listed in the Guads inventory used by the US Forest Service.
