Mmmmmm.
I will have Devil's Sinkhole prints for sale, matted and shrinkwrapped,
signed and numbered, $30.00. All but the packaging cost of $5.00 goes to
TCMA.
Not sure where PBSS will be, though...

I will have handmade bar soap for sale at TCR, with all proceeds to be
donated to the TCMA.
Drop by the Dallas-Fort Worth Grotto camping area (you won't be able to
miss it, we have a large grotto banner) if you'd like to buy soaps
scented with the fragrances of Texas lavender, calendula, coconut-lime-
verbena, cherry blossom, peppermint-lemongrass, mango-vanilla, sandalwood
and even Cave Dirt!
Bars weigh approximately 4.5 ounces and will be on sale for $5 each.

What? No pinto bean or old cave boots as scents?

I think you could special order that kind of scented soap, but you'd
have to commit to buy 2 pounds of it.

the Monterrey Bay Bike Trail
Cool! I live close to this one.
http://tinyurl.com/yzjthum This is a spot where harbor seals like to
hang out, there's one at the base of the rock (they are gray with dark
spots, so it'll be probably hard to see), and I think that to the right
there's a sea otter swimming. And in other pictures you can see the
shadow of the bike with a boom that they used for these.
Another cool one is this one: http://tinyurl.com/ygpackk
The Laguna Seca raceway. I wonder that they used for recording this one?

All,
I went to see a pulmonary specialist today and...
I am being admitted to the Midland Memorial Hospital this afternoon and they
believe I have contracted Histoplasmosis.
They are going to do a lung biopsy on Monday to make for sure the right
treatment is given.
This is bad, way worse that I thought
Please let everyone know.
Thanks,
Bill

All,
I am home now after an overnight stay in the hospital, I appreciate
everyones concerns and prayers. The Pulmonary Specialist Doctor, didn't
actually say I had Histoplasmosis, but treated me as if I had, they won't know
if I had Histoplasmosis or not till the tests all come back next week , but
have treated me as if I had it.
With this drug....Diflucin detailed link below
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluconazole
one night stay in the hospital and I did a 100% turn around...so I am figuring
I did...
I still have a slight cough, but not as bad as when I went in....
Xrays and CT Scans still shoed some slight scarring (spider webs is what it
looked like to me) but, doctors all agreed for me to go home.
Again thanks for tha prayers and concerns.
Good to be home even though I missed the Texas Caver's Reunion.

About a year ago, I posted something about new diesel SUV's with 4WD. I
was
hoping by now, that there would be a rugged SUV on the market with a diesel
engine,
but that does not seem to be the case.
Audi has a diesel SUV, if you don't mind spending $ 52,000 plus.
http://images.thetruthaboutcars.com/2009/07/q7fortrock-526x350.jpg
I haven't seen it yet, but it is rumored to be available.
It has All-Wheel Drive, but it doesn't look rugged enough to take up into
the mountains. Would you drive it up to Pink Panther Cave ?
( Maybe in the snow, with tire chains ? )
The best diesel SUV choice now, seems to be to find a used one on the web.
The Ford Excursion was readily available in a real 4 wheel drive with solid
axles front and back.
I thought I heard that 2005 was the last year, but there seems to be plenty
of those available on the web.
Jeep stopped making the diesel version of the Liberty in 2006, and you can
find those on the web now. I heard the motor gave owners trouble,
and they are expensive.
Jeep had a Grand Cherokee last year that was a diesel, but I think they
were rare. ( There is one for sale in Bonham, TX on e-bay. ). Jeep's
web-site does not list the diesel motor as an option on the 2009 model.
Has anybody seen a late model diesel Suburban lately ? I don't recall
seeing one
for years.
I am disappointed in the SUV market at the moment. All the
new SUV's seem to look a like, and most are either ugly or silly or just not
meant for off-road, and all are way way over-priced.
Here is something for you diesel lovers out there:

Roger Brucker's new novel, "Grand, Gloomy and Peculiar," the story of the
greatest cave explorer, Stephen Bishop, is now available. This book is on
sale in paperback in the shop at the Mammoth Cave Hotel, the NSS Bookstore,
Speleobooks and other places. Be sure and check out Rogers website,
http://www.rogerbrucker.com/ggp.html. The book is available both in soft cover
and hardback. Over the last few years we have heard Roger read excerpts from
the book while touring the cave. I recommend this book as no one tells a caving
story better than Roger.

Howdy All!
I am SO bummed I missed TCR this weekend. I got the flu last week and was in a
world of hurt. Today is the first day of solid foods. I know I missed a
rocking good time and can't wait to read about it here and see the fotos in the
Texas Caver.
My sincerest apologies to the cooks for not being there as promised. I hope
other pitched in.
