Q1                What did you doafter your retirement?

A1          D D Rishi Former IRS |Ph.D. (Law) | Advocate | Story Writer Mon

Immediately after retirement, I took my first foolish decision of settingup my
fulfpledged office and starting the legal practice. I was under the impression
thatI should continue working, as I was doing earlier, to be happy.

I was very successful and earning a lot of money which I did not need atall as
I was drawing a decent pension and there was not much to spend on. But every
work or professionbrings in its own tensions and work pressures. Many times I
couldnot go on vacation as a case would pop up without much advance notice.
Iwondered why was I putting myself under stress just for money which was
doingme no good.

When this realization came, I shifted my focus from work to enjoyment.

Post-retirement life is not meant for making money but for enjoying yourlife
free from any stress or worries.

So I switched on more to long walks, cycling, travelling, meditation, physical
exercises, writing, sports, scrabble, artistic work, and social medialike
Facebook and Quora etc.

I have realized now that after retirement, your physical and mentalhealth is
more crucial than any professional or financial success. Enjoy thelife!

Q2         What was the mostsatisfying dose of karma you've ever seen?

A2          Answered by Val Sol 14hago

I was at a local grocery store. It was extremely windy that day. When Iwas done
with my cart I placed it up against a pole. It was at least 3 inchesfrom each
of the cars parked near that pole. I placed it so the wind could notmove it. I
was waiting for a friend to get done and come to my car.

A female got out of her car in a huff and grabbed the cart and placed itin the
middle of the handicapped empty space next to her car.

Before she got back to her cardoor, the wind took that cart and smashed the
cart not once but 4 times againsther car. Not only denting itbut also scraping
a huge amount of paint off of it. Why she thought putting itin the middle of an
empty space in that wind was a good idea I will never know.It was bad enough if
there was no wind that it was an handicapped space. Did she think the
handicappedperson should deal with it? Karma took care of it.

Q3         Why does almost everyfood taste like soap (the taste goes away
quickly)?

A3          Franklin Veaux ProfessionalWriter June 17

If this is new, and has onlyrecently started happening, you may have COVID-19.
Distorted sense of taste and smell is one of the earliestsymptoms of
coronavirus infection.

The earlier you’re diagnosed, the sooner you can get treatment, and thebetter
off you will be to make sure you don’t pass it to others. Please gettested.

My note- I have added this QAfor one of the symptomsof covid19

Q4         Why did Lord Hanumanworship Krishna's dead body?

A4          Andy Joe Lives in India June17

Not sure if there is a problem. But don't see any problems. Lords Krishna& Rama
are avatars of Lord Vishnu. Hanuman could not stop Rama from hisdeath only to
learn death is inevitable even to God in human form. So he paidhis respects to
Krishna's dead body.

I'm no expert in mythology or ancient Hindu scriptures, but don't findany
relevant explanation.

Q5         What is the creepiestthing you have experienced at home alone, or on
your job?

A5          Chetan Naik If they'reeasy, they wont be worth it, but if they're
worth it, they won't be easy Sat

I used to stay alone in my flat some 12 years ago. After a long tiringwork day
I was having a deep sleep in the night. About 2 AM in the night suddenly I
could hear thesound of something falling and water in the kitchen. Water tap
inthe kitchen wash basin was opened.

Something falling could be easily understood as some accident but Icouldn’t
figure out how a tap could be turned on. The tap was something likethis but of
metal. At least as I know these kind of taps cannot be turned onby cats.

For a while I got scared then I realised what had happened. That night I had
kept a filledwater pot by the side of the wash basin which was slightly leaning
on the watertap handle. There was a tangential force on the water tap
handlewhich had slowly rotated the tap, eventually about 2 AM water tap gave up
and completely turned onand water pot had fallen in to the wash basin after
losing firm supportfrom the tap handle. This was one of the creepiest incident
which I have experienced.

Q6         It seems to me that atoothbrush is a breeding place for bacteria and
could make someone very sick.Am I correct?

A6          Ken Saladin Formerprofessor of histology (microscopic anatomy) Sun

I’m sure toothbrushes do harbor a lot of bacteria, but if you don’t shareyour
toothbrush with anyone else, then they’re your bacteria acquired from yourown
mouth, where they’re already vastly more numerous. Your mouth is their
realbreeding place. Atoothbrush is pretty dry most times—not a very favourable
place for bacterialproliferation.

Q7         What are some commonmistakes that many newlywed people do which they
later regret in their marriedlife?

A7          Rukmini Hindupur Livesin Bengaluru, Karnataka, India (1986–present)
Mon

I with a considerable hindsight can call a few mistakes, newly wedcouples
commit may be out of ignorance or misplaced priorities.

Number one mistake is to let the parents interfere. Both newly wed spouses
should be clear that theparents should keep some distance.

Conceive too early. Going for kids within an year after marriage is not very
wise, specially inarranged marriages where the couple hardly know each other.

It is an utterly wrong notion to think that a child reinforces the bond. No, the
very small irritants also look very big when you are in a stressful condition,
what with pregnancymoods, cravings, discomfort,

Better to wait a year or two before you think of children. The couple getsome
time to understand eachother, gain some financial understanding and also the
routine of a twosomelife.Next point is for those restless souls who want to
acquire everything in ajet speed.

Go for your bucket list, sure. But have patience. Acquireor achieve your
objectives at a comfortable pace.

Own house? Car? Travel? Gadgets? Fine.

Go a bit more leisurely.

You will get all of them. But give some time.

On the whole,“Ruk jana nahin, tu kahin haarke,

Kaanton se chalke milenge saayein bahaar ke “

Q8         How do doctors feel whenthey themselves are admitted to a hospital?

A8          Phil Egan SeniorLecturer in Medicine at James cook University
GPJune 13

Some years ago there was a book that had the experiences of multipledoctors who
had serious, sometimes terminal, illnesses and their experiences.

To a man/woman they all said roughly the same thing and that was thatbeing
treated as a person was more important than their medical care.

When you think about it your medical care in a hospital is what it is. Itis the
personal care that can make a difference.

I remember one nurse, whom Ididn’t think much of from a doctor’s point of view,
was an absolute gem when Iwas admitted to hospital with a heart scare.

She treated me as a person, not as a condition and made me feel good. Myopinion
of her changed forever.

All the above QA are based onQuora digest on 23-06- 2021. Quora answers need
not be 100% correct answers
