I have resolved this one now. Version 5.3 made the difference. Sample code has been uploaded here http://therion.speleo.sk/wiki/doku.php?id=tex&s=override (at the bottom of the page)
With it you can override the output map title either always or only when Therion can not determine what the title should be. Bruce
