There are several way how to do it.
1. Make shorter scraps - in extreme covering only one survey leg.
2. try to use the morfing feature of therion.
I had the same problem quite a few times, especially to correct old
drawings that have an error, or to iterate the drawing corrections when
there is a new loop for instance.
