Sorry about the last one, I clicked "Send" by mistake... :)
Just wanted to say that after apt-getting gamin-dev, updating are

Well, I've updated my xfce4-dev-tools from SVN an got it to compile,
and yes - it's working great.
Also, it even works with the "Text beside icons", where Nautilus fails.
Thanks alot, I can finally switch :)

Hello.
This is a problem I saw on an old Thunar version, but I don't believe
it's fixed since I never saw it being reported. I never succsed
compiling xfce-dev-tools, so I can't check it...
It's a bit hard to explain, but I'll do my best.

Even though I agree we shouldn't just keep everything basic because of
the fear to create something complex, I also think that having a VFS
layer at the file-manager isn't a good idea, just because of the fact
that having a VFS layer that only the file-manager can use is pretty
useless. GNOME-VFS h

Hey,
After seeing the new website design I stated working on the forums.
I've checked PunBB and phpBB2 (Vanilla are nice, but aren't what we
need), and decided to go on phpBB2.
There's some fixing to do, but I wanted to show what I've got before I
pack it and fix small bugs.
Here's a screenshot o
I think most of Thunar options should be hidden in a configuration
file. Most users don't even need to know about an option to disable
thumbails, but it also shouldn't be hard-coded.
Just like Firefox and Firefox Help (that explained a lot of
tips-n-tricks using Firefox's user.js, userChrome.css,
The thing is that applications like gThumb or F-Spot aren't file
managers, which means they can't be used for moving files around and
to do other file operations.
Thunar isn't meant to replace Image Managers and to be one, but when
you mess with files that are images and all their names are
IMG00?
I'm going on a trip and will be back Saturday, but please lets decide
on a system so we can start working on it right away.
Yo'av.

Well, as-far-as-I-can-remember phpBB's templates aren't too easy to
customize, but if we decided on phpBB and on a site layout then I have
the time to do it.
There should be no problem with upgrading or maintaining.

I don't like the little 100x100 screenshots at the bottom. It tells
nothing to the user and he just has to go one-by-one and click on them
because it's too small to see what the (full) screenshot is trying to
show.
If we go for these little images, I believe we should at least add
some descriptive
I think that opening the menu using right click is a waste of good
option, because if we´d want to use that to have
super-easy-file-management, it´s not the helpful.
That´s what I mean: Let´s say you´re dragging a file and want to move
it somewhere. You can drag it to one of the folders at the pat
I'm not sure it's 'right' using a file for this. I think a selection
menu (like Nautilus's) with options like:
- Default (Icon View)
- Icon View
- List View
- Thumbnails
Will serve us the best. Opening a directory gives you the Default
view, which should be an option for the user, and only if he c
I like this design a lot. It's very nice on the eyes and simple.
The colors aren't exactly my favourites, but they are defenitly acceptable.

I'm just thinking that maybe we can have most of the preferences
hidden, but have access, through the file, to them all. Something like
Gecko's 'about:config'.
Yes, it can look scary, but really no 'a
I've been pretty quiet but I've read all of the discussion and tend to

I think thumbnails are important. It is a powerful way to identify the
file, without opening it. It's not only used when going over an images
folder, but also at the every-day every-folder time, when there's
