OK -- I think that works now -- it was all about names. The stylesheet to
display the toc must have a name that lists after the base stylesheet for
the toc. It appears that tiddlers are parsed in a certain order, and the
settings in this stylesheet must over-ride the settings in the base

In Chromium, I can highlight the url in the address bar, then drag the
highlighted text onto my TW5 -- this puts the url into the text field of an
Untitled tiddler.
All that is then required is to rename the tiddler to the 'pretty' shortcut
and modify your code to use the 'text' field
