I actually thought about it before, it would be nice if search results were
just another sidebar tab instead of blocking them.
Great UI idea, I love it. Definitely wanna see it included as core aswell.

with 5.1.8 and the new plugin mechanism.

I now updated the code and put a demo (that is an exact copy of
@Spangenhelm's original demo) with the bugfix here:
