The UK's RSPB -- The Royal Society For The Protection Of Birds -- is one of 
the biggest charities in the UK. Its has over 1 million members (in a 
country of 65m) and 420,489 of them actively observed and noted 6,764,475 
birds. 

Bird observation in the UK by ordinary people has increased knowledge about 
the effects of global warming, noting changes in bird populations since
