You bet, at 1AM new-years night a fair number of toasts gets hoisted
here in .dk :-)

Hi!
Those interested in time and frequency work should have a look at the Nobel
Physics prize lectures. Especially the John Hall lecture was interesting.
Yes, it's a brief walk thru the field, but could be an interesting guide to how
we replaced the meter standard, what can happend in the future o
He's using almost 150 semiconductor diodes, isn't that sort of cheating ?
He's also using fairly modern (TO-5 can size) trim-pots to tweak each
stage. A true vintage unit would have used 3/8" hole, 1/4" shaft (or
their metric equivalent) style pots, or else hand-tweak the resistors
either

That is quite the nixie clock. A real labor of love.
It's interesting to note that he used none of the tube-saving tricks
that HP used in their nixie instruments. Another nixie clock builder
in the USA did use these tricks and ended up with a smaller, but not
as lovely, all-tube clock:

Truly impressive-If I had one it would have to take out a shelf in
wife's crystal/china cabinet!
From a quick look (with no knowledge of German) I didn't see any
overall power consumption figure. Maybe it's there and I missed
it -can any German capable reader comment?
Tnx
