Surely its easier to measure the duty cycle of the 74AC86 by analog low
pass filtering it and using an ADC to measure the output of the
(buffered( analog low pass filter?

Hello,
I’ve built a James Miller style GPSD with a Rockwell Jupiter, 74AC86 as phase
detector and Isotemp OCXO. Division from 10Mhz to 10kHz is done with a 12F675
PIC that also outputs other frequencies and I also included a 16F88 that gives
information as OCXO oven info and various GPS status
There is an EEPROM that can be used to store parameter such as the
initial DAC voltage, position, etc. but it's not automatic. Have you
explicitly saved the position (or auto stored it) after the survey is
complete? If you don't do this then it will have to do a survey on every
startup and that

Great Info! Thanks. And a wonderful bonus is that it is available in PDIP 16
pin from Mouser for $1.66 each. It seems like almost everything better these
days is SMT.

Another for the list, some of you will have visited Edinburgh which has
run a time gun and ball since the 1860s. I'll spare you the usual links,
the foot of this link shows the time gun correction maps that the
Edinburgh time nut of the 1860s would would
Gentlemen,
A question on the Thunderbolt.
Lately every time I turn the Thunderbolt off and then on again I have
to do a cold reset.
It then takes about 10-20 minutes before it is fully operational
again. This is most unsatisfactory.
Its almost as if its lost most of its settings.
Is there so

Achim,
Don’t re-invent the wheel. Google James Miller 10 MHz GPS. Very similar ckts
are by Talbot and Bozic. The basic idea is to divide the 10 MHz to 10 KHz and
then use a phase detector. All will work well. It comes down to personal
choice.
