I recently picked up a GBC video DA that seems to do a good job. Like

Used an extron for years. Now use Grass Valley video DAs.
Purchased a tray of 10-12 DAs like new for $40 at a flea market.
Also another company Leitch DAs can be had cheaply. Both GVG and Leitch
easily work past 10 MC.
Seems the ole NTSC 525 stuff not to exciting.

There's an excellent buy available right now on Ebay, item# 380320968033.
There has been some discussion on using this DA for poor man's standard freq
distribution with good results. I have one in service... it serves me quite
well.
See http://www.ko4bb.com/Timing/Distribution_Amp/ and

As I recall, Gilbert also offered some sort of "Atomic energy lab set" in the
early 50's; they'd probably have to call in the hazmat folks if one of those
appeared at a flea market.

Anyone look for a job lately? There's no such thing as "entry level" for
"newly graduated" engineers of any type anymore. Read any actual "newly
graduated" job description and they all require a masters degree and AT
LEAST 3-5 years experience. Oh yeah, and must have graduated within the last

If you read the auction carefully it says "AUCTION PRICE IS FOR ONE(1) PIECE."
So check with vendor if price is for (1) or (20)!!!

Heavens that was called thinning the herd.
There really wasn't a lot in those sets.
Don't think they had mercury at least I don't recall it.
Hmmm I don't recall it. ;-)

Even in the early 70's, my chemistry set was full of poisonous
chemicals. They were all clearly labelled, "Don't eat". I didn't
eat and survived. Can't remember exactly what was in there,
but it at least had cobalt chloride and sodium ferrocyanide.

No luck so far. I wired up an adapter and tried reading the Mostek
part as a 2764. All I got was zeros. I read that sometimes this is due
to not enough power to read the old parts, so I plugged a wall wart
into my programmer for extra juice (it's USB powered normally). This
didn't help. I guess I'l
