It is vain to do with more that which can be done with less. In that case have a look here: http://www.uploadarchief.net/files/download/freqlogger.zip A PIC12F629 based RS-232 frequency logger. No display and can be clocked by an external 10MHz clock if needed. My version worked to 60 MHz.
