Aging eyesight, for one. For another, I don't like hacking up hardware.
And there is not a lot of access, except from directly above, and lots of
easily melted plastic nereby.

I bought some 8-pin SMT clips a few years ago, but don't remember
where I got them. The only brands I know of are 3M, AP and Pomona. You
will find that these things are expensive.
