I was able to get the watch to lock up multiple times of the day on my
window sill.
Now what do you suggest, besides a small antenna that fits on the
window sill behind the blinds? Can a RS232 output be send in via a
RS232-USB cable and have the PC programs use the inputs?
I recently bought a version on the Mainnav GPS watch. I went outside
and let it sync up. I turned it off and when inside. I turned it on
along with the GPS function. It locked up within a few minutes. I will
leave it off for a while and try again. I would post a picture, but do
not know if the list

By the way,
If you do get a Garmin 15, make sure it is the "H" or "L" model which has WAAS.
The
regular model "15," which is cheaper, does not have WAAS.

If you go to the Garmin web site and look at their OEM page, you can order the
OEM versions for around $55 from Garmin directly. I have one of their models, a
15xx OEM module (including the pigtail cable). It has PPS stated as good to 1us
but I was told it was actually good to 100ns with SA turn
Hi,
I bought a Garmin GPS 17, which also has PPS, for about $100 from an
online dealer.
This model runs off 8 to 40 volts, so runs off 12V quite well, has 5V
logic PPS,
as well as connections for serial input to a PC.

You want the GPC 18 LVC rather than any of the other versions. (It's the
only one with PPS.)
You can get it for well under $100. Look for the OEM version. (aka no
software)
I got mine from Provantage.
, since ti comes with some software
for a laptop. How much would the GPDSO unit be, plus a display of the
time or inputs into a laptop with time and other related information?

Which end of the "nut" scale are you on? If you have to
I am no expert on the relative merits of GPS units but I needed PPS
signals
so I bought a Garmin GPS 17. It came from an on-line retailer who seemed
to discount and would deal with someone on the other side of the
Pacific. (Sydney)
About $100.
The device is an antenna and receiver in a mast hea
What kind of GPS unit are you trying to borrow?
Don't remember seeing any message to that effect.

I have had no success getting anyone to loan me their GPS units. Does
anyone have suggestions as to what inexpensive unit to purchase, which
will give a good indication of whether a GPSDO unit will receive and
process the signals?
