I have restarted the server and checked it but no luck. I had replaced the py
file which u mailed also and tried again but gives me same error.
I have downloaded poweremail which says 0.6 release. Do I download lower
version and try that ?

Did you restart the server after changing the py files?
The thumb rule is after any python change the open erp server has to be
restarted since all modules have to be recompiled.
if you have already done that then try deleting the .pyc files in the
poweremail folder and try again.

This is good news, currently I'm trying to finish an alpha of the XML schemas.

Activation on google side is only for IMAP & POP3
SMTP does not require any server side config for gmail or google apps.
Also try with default port for SMTP under SSL (465).

And last but not least, your setup is directing you to the right server?
While installing the module the default was "localhost" If your client is on a
different machine this will not work. Specify domain name or ipadres of the
server.
You can rerun the configuration by Menu -> Administration ->
Goto menu
Administration/Configuration/Email Servers/SMTP Server
Open form view. and go to permission tab.
add your user in access permission list.

are there. You did print a invoice or quotation?
If it's there you have a permission problem.

The document structure discussed before are stored into the database. But the
files will be stored on a server directory if DMS modules is installed.
A problem that some times arise is that the filestore directory on the server
is not created (correctly). It should be created as
/openerp/server/b
