I am doing experiments with the T-MAC protocol on Mica2s running at 914mhz and am having problems with high rates of lost packets. I am using the RadioTest application from the /tinyos-1.x/contrib/t-mac/apps CVS source, placing two motes in receive mode and running the T-MAC protocol. The motes synchronize schedules and should swap SYNC packets roughly every six seconds. The SYNC packets are being sent properly, but between 25 – 30% of them are not received by the other mote (no start symbol is detected at receiver). When I set up a mote to NOT run T-MAC and to receive all raw packets, I only experience a 5-7% packet miss rate. I have tried tuning the radios with various freqs and power settings, moving the devices closer together and further apart, tried them in “clean” environments to avoid interference, all to no avail. I’m wondering if any else has seen similar behavior with T-MAC and/or can recommend how I might fix this problem.
Thanks in advance,
David Raymond
