I am new to TinyOS. From what I have learned there seems to have two
platoforms to develop. One is commercial and the other is open source.
Commercial package such as Crossbow's Moteworks runs on Windows and provides
nice GUI. So it might be easier for beginners but I am not sure what the
limit
TinyOS itself is freely available and some kind of open source.
There are two major versions, 1 and 2 with similar but not

Yes, you are right Xbow kit supports TinyOS 1.x. So aside from GUI are there
any major improvements in power consumption between 1.x and 2.x?
