The best way to handle this is not to give assignments that are plagiarism sensitive.I do it the old fashion way.I put copies of articles or books on reserve in the library.Students will have to sign their names to get them mout.Of course,they may make their own copies but will have to attach the

In my case, it is a second year course. We do not do much to control enrollment, so some students take it in their first year. Some students taking the course already have 2- or 4-year degrees. Some even have graduate degrees. (Not at all uncommon for Community Colleges.) Students at all level

How about this twist on David's comments - instead of a simple 0, how about giving students half the credit if they resubmit the paper with the appropriate citation?  At least with this appropriate you're forcing them to show you that they do indeed know how to use APA style appropriately. -- Mar

I think the student has simply provided bad advice to the class. I personally would find it appropriate for a student to ask another student about formatting. So I would give the students credit. I would point out to the students the dangers of giving and receiving bad advice. If the assignment
