1)Too many of our freshmen come in with the notion "I want to be a child
psychologist" or "I want to be a forensic psychologist and do profiling for

faculty would like to know more about helping their students investigate the
particular orientations of certain univerisities and departments.
That said, now that my sense is that the discussion has come full circle, I am
I strongly concur with the recommendation that specialization wait and
that the undergraduate experience be broadly based with more than a
modicum of accompanying research experience. Further, the student should
be urged to avail him/herself of opportunities to present research
