I had a student bypass our "Learning Centre" (which is in charge of
determining disabilities and accommodations) and come to me directly. He
told me he had a rare spinal disease, and that he would be in a wheel
chair within 5 years. I felt terrible, and gave him some leeway (without
asking for
"B" I'd hate to have the responsibility as a teacher to make this
decision. I don't want to have to discriminate between bonafide
disabilities and student manipulation to avoid difficult requirements.
