Steven raises a good point, and one I hadn't considered. In fact, I'm guilty of just this on one of my assignments in my Dev Psych class. In that class, I teach the students how to use PsycINFO. I give them a topic, and they are required to find 12 references and turn in an APA style reference

I haven't seen this exercise before, but something seems wrong (at least as it's been described). From what I can gather, you're trying to show that speaking up in class won't kill you by having the experimental group (those who mention their name aloud) to speak up in class. After the

I've been approached by one of our blind students on campus about taking my cognitive psychology course next fall. I teach the course with many overheads of figures and graphs from our text and others, and I'm not sure how to accomodate this student's needs. Have any of you taught cog psych to a

Let me respond briefly to Ken's statements below. This is a 2 part answer (having to do with the value 7 +/-2 and having to do with the concept of STM) , and I will allow the real cognitive psychologists to correct and expand on my answer. 1. Is STM a myth? The *serial* process model of

Hi Pat. Of course, all of these categories cannot be overlapping because if 1/6 children are stillborn, obviously those children cannot also suffer from birth defects or FAS. My guess is that the birth defects category and FAS category DO overlap; in fact, many children suffering from FAS have

My point was that children who are born dead probably are not counted in the heart defects, neurological defects, etc. statistics cited by Pat's instructor in his earlier post. You could be correct, however, if the original authors did include them in the statistics. It would just seem odd to me
