Hi all,

> For a Kingsfield procedure approach check out Sue Frantz's web page.

Since my name was raised... =)

The technique that's on my website is the one I've started the
semester with. In previous semesters it's worked very well. This
semester... not so much.

A couple weeks ago, I altered it. I now use the questions that begin
each section of the Myers _Exploring_ chapters. This seems to have
increased the number of people who are prepared for class... although
some students have discovered that the answers to those questions are
present at the end of the chapter. (Dave, can I talk you into getting
rid of those answers?) =) So, I also ask for an example. That
seems to have cut down on the number of students merely preparing
their answers without reading the text.

I also recognize that some students will just not be prepared -- for
many reasons. If the student misses questions twice in a row, I
remove their card from the stack. If they want back in the stack,
they need to give me a written explanation of why they're now going
to be prepared for class.

So far, I like how it's working.

As for the Myers _Psychology_ text, I'm pretty certain it's the top
seller in the U.S. by quite a margin. Myers _Exploring_ I believe is
4th or 6th... or somewhere in there.

Wow... thanks!

My syllabi, though, aren't in an easily printable format. I need to
add my hardcopy syllabi as txt or pdf files for printing. I'm trying
to eliminate the need for a hardcopy altogether, but my students
aren't ~quite~ there yet.
