The other day I was watching the news and they were discussing the situation in Ohio where the women had been held captive.  Someone said something like, To hold these beautiful young women captive is a terrible crime.  I was left wondering why he used the term beautiful - a sexist remark perhaps?

It seems to me fairly standard now (because of the highly visual nature of tv news) that cases involving attractive women (with all the cultural conventions that implies) get far more news coverage than cases that do not because they get to show the picture of he victim over and over again).
