Wow,so many academicians have been fired and are under fire in Central Florida that I am thinking of resurrecting William Buckley and hosting my own Firing Line show live from Daytona Beach. The latest predicted to be casualty could be Ken Sharples,the President of Daytona State College (formerly Daytona Beach Community College). The preident gave $1million to a community cultural group to promote concerts by the Jonas brothers and Usher. He gave the money without the consent of the Board -of-Trustees.The college lost lots of money on both events and owe money to vendors and other operators. Meanwhile the Vice-President for Academic Affairs and the Executive VP have announced plans to retire-not sure if they are involved in the deal.However the London symphony orchestra -scheduled to come to Daytona next summer- has been told to stay home.Personally I never liked the LSO-they never played the national anthem of the State of Florida-MARGARITAVILLE.
