Hello Jim,
We teach statistics using SPSS, but I wonder if any people have been switching
to R? Here's a recent post on R's popularity.
We have switched to R some years ago.
I first tried to get students use the console but found that I spent too
much time teaching them commands instead of stats.
I finally wrote two GUI for my own needs: AtelieR (for teaching basic
sampling concepts, but also more sophisticated ones in Bayesian
statistics) and R2STATS (a GUI for GLM and GLMM). Most operations and
plots I wanted students to use are now fully automatic and this saves time.
Both GUI are very elementary and I wrote them for my own needs but
hopefully these could be of help.
Best regards,
