Hi Jack, I just had a second look how TLF handles the marker file.
There is no special magic on the work here. TLF just opens the existing file and replaces its content - the old file gets not deleted, no new file created. Can you please provide the command you use to start xplanet? Maybe anything special here. Otherwise the only idea may be some sort of backup mechanism from the operating system or distribution (time machine or similar).
