I guess my daughter should consider herself completely blessed. She has
been back in school since a month after this happened to her when she
was in 5th grade. She continued to maintain a A - B average and was
actually on the distinguished honor roll this past term b/c she recd

It wasn't the Amantadine that killed her per se though, it is because it is
excreted (gotten rid of) in the kidneys and her kidneys were damaged from the
bus crash. Since her kidneys could not filter out the drug it built up in her
system and turned toxic.
Her liver was damaged in the accident and couldn't filter it out of
her blood. That what caused the problem. At least that is how I
remember it. :-)

Whenever I hear this I tell people it's because the one-third of the
people who do recover usually just want to forget it happened and
don't join support groups. That's why you mainly read about those
with poor outcomes.
