git describe shows the closest branch (which is 1.8) not the
version. the code in git is what will be 1.9 when it's released.

'1.8-114-g06d1016', which then built 'tmux_1.8-114-gd71cb73-1_i386.deb'
with no problem.
But 'tmux -V' gives 'tmux 1.9', although 'apt-cache policy' gives -
