At least I solved my problem ! I was trying to put the webapps in a different directory. I use Tomcat 4 and Apache 1.3.22 with an WARP connector (mod_webapps.) First : I totaly delete the Stand-alone service in the server.xml. It worked. Then I moved the WebApps directory and here is my new ser

You can use Tomcat "only" (without Apache) as a complete web server. This is stand alone. You can use Tomcat with Apache with a connector. WARP (mod_webapps) for example. In this case you can delete the whole tomcat shuts down slowly on my linux. It shows > 'Stopping service Tomcat-Standalone
