the problem only occurs in the production system.
Therefore we can't change the JRE easily.
But I think we have to.
The test system is not affected.
Do you have a link that supports your hint regarding to JRE problems?

we are running tomcat 5.0.24 on solaris with Java 1.4.2_05.
Sometimes tomcat aborts with following informations:
