t unlikely' given I was on a laptop with 196MB
of ram and 128MB of swap. Look at the amount of ram *free* on
the server, if that is low, it might be worth upgrading it...

support transactions. MySQL is fast, and fine for simple database
applications (preferably with very few relations and not too many
JOINs), for anything more involved, I'd look at either postgresql,
or if your budget can take it, Oracle.
