I tried that.. also tried CC='gcc' ./configure ...blah blah for apache ..
still get the same problem...

Given up on TC 4.0.2 and mod_webapp.
So now I tried to compile mod_jk and tomcat 3.3 final.
Both compiled without any error messages .
However when I load the module in apache , it fails to start with the
following message in the error_log :
[emerg] (2)No such file or directory: Error while open
i run the following:
./configure --with-apxs=/usr/local/Apache_EAPI/bin/apxs
--with-java=/usr/j2se/
--with-tomcat=/tomcat4.0.2-compile/jakarta-tomcat-4.0.2-b2-src/dist/
and then after a while i get the following :
