HTTPS, port 443 & firewall

Hi, For HTTPS must port 443 be open on a firewall, or is traffic sent/received on port 80 (or defined HTTP port) and redirected internally? Do 'standard' firewalls leave open this port by default? Thanks Paul. - To unsu
