Eduardo, Thanks for the clarification. I tried adding the "Filter DLLs" key and removing the ISAPI filter in IIS, but then when I tried to access http://localhost/examples/jsp/index.html, I was prompted to log in. If I changed the web site's authentication to only "anonymous" (versus the default "anonymous" and "integrated Windows authentication"), I just got an "access denied" error message (without the log in prompt). I tried logging in with my standard Windows credentials, but that didn't work either. So then I decided to check the NTFS permissions on the Tomcat directory, and -- to my surprise -- I noticed that my account, "Administrators", and "SYSTEM" were explicitly granted full control permission. This is strange, because I NEVER changed the default permissions ("Everyone" --> "Full Control"). Anyway, after resetting the permissions on the Tomcat directory (and all subdirectories), the redirection worked! Thanks for sharing your insight -- I appreciate it. Now the question is: who set those explicit permissions on the Tomcat home directory? I'll probably never know... ________________________________ Scott S. This key contains a "," separated list of dlls ( full paths ) - you need to insert the full path to isapi_redirect.dll." Although I am using IIS 5.0, by doing the step mentioned above and removing the ISAPI Filter (in Internet INformation Services, under your web sites' properties in the ISAPI Filters tab), I was able to redirect just fine. If I only had the filter in the ISAPI Filters tab (with the green arrow showing) it would not redirect...do not know what kind of a bug (if it is a bug) it is - whether it's IIS side or Tomcat side. Like I said, i tried this on my machine and it worked. I even added it again and when I did, it would not redirect... Hope this helps... Eduardo ----Original Message Follows---- From: "Scott S. I'm not sure that I understand your solution, though. I did a search in my registry for "isapi_redirect.dll", and found it only once (under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Apache Software Foundation\Jakarta Isapi Redirector\1.0\extension_uri" -- the key that "IIS How To" instructed me to create). I tried removing the isapi filter from the web site, but when I accessed http://localhost/examples/jsp/index.html, I got nothing. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks! _________________ Scott S. I removed the one under ISAPI filters and kept the one in the registry and it started redirecting for me.... Try that - good luck! Eduardo ----Original Message Follows---- From: "Scott S. The registry entries are correct, and the ISAPI filter "turns green", as expected. Tomcat works fine as a standalone container (http://localhost:8080/servlet/MyServlet), but whenever I try to access the "examples" context via the redirector (http://localhost/examples/jsp/index.html), I get an error that crashes IIS. The error is as follows: Inetinfo.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created. In the registry, I set the log_level to "debug", and captured the following information in the "isapi_redirect.log" file: [jk_uri_worker_map.c (155)]: Into jk_uri_worker_map_t::uri_worker_map_alloc [jk_uri_worker_map.c (195)]: Into jk_uri_worker_map_t::uri_worker_map_open [jk_uri_worker_map.c (210)]: jk_uri_worker_map_t::uri_worker_map_open, rule map size is 2 [jk_uri_worker_map.c (266)]: Into jk_uri_worker_map_t::uri_worker_map_open, match rule /servlet/=ajp12 was added [jk_uri_worker_map.c (266)]: Into jk_uri_worker_map_t::uri_worker_map_open, match rule /examples/=ajp12 was added [jk_uri_worker_map.c (295)]: Into jk_uri_worker_map_t::uri_worker_map_open, there are 2 rules [jk_uri_worker_map.c (316)]: jk_uri_worker_map_t::uri_worker_map_open, done [jk_worker.c (82)]: Into wc_open [jk_worker.c (207)]: Into build_worker_map, creating 2 workers [jk_worker.c (213)]: build_worker_map, creating worker ajp12 [jk_worker.c (138)]: Into wc_create_worker [jk_worker.c (152)]: wc_create_worker, about to create instance ajp12 of ajp12 [jk_ajp12_worker.c (264)]: Into ajp12_worker_factory [jk_worker.c (161)]: wc_create_worker, about to validate and init ajp12 [jk_ajp12_worker.c (182)]: Into jk_worker_t::validate [jk_ajp12_worker.c (194)]: In jk_worker_t::validate for worker ajp12 contact is localhost:8007 [jk_worker.c (177)]: wc_create_worker, done [jk_worker.c (223)]: build_worker_map, removing old ajp12 worker [jk_worker.c (213)]: build_worker_map, creating worker ajp13 [jk_worker.c (138)]: Into wc_create_worker [jk_worker.c (152)]: wc_create_worker, about to create instance ajp13 of ajp13 [jk_ajp13_worker.c (708)]: Into ajp23_worker_factory [jk_worker.c (161)]: wc_create_worker, about to validate and init ajp13 [jk_ajp13_worker.c (383)]: Into jk_worker_t::validate [jk_ajp13_worker.c (396)]: In jk_worker_t::validate for worker ajp13 contact is localhost:8009 [jk_ajp13_worker.c (422)]: Into jk_worker_t::init [jk_worker.c (177)]: wc_create_worker, done [jk_worker.c (223)]: build_worker_map, removing old ajp13 worker [jk_worker.c (235)]: build_worker_map, done [jk_worker.c (102)]: wc_open, done [jk_isapi_plugin.c (408)]: HttpFilterProc started [jk_isapi_plugin.c (429)]: In HttpFilterProc test redirection of /examples/jsp/index.html [jk_uri_worker_map.c (344)]: Into jk_uri_worker_map_t::map_uri_to_worker [jk_uri_worker_map.c (406)]: jk_uri_worker_map_t::map_uri_to_worker, Found a match ajp12 [jk_isapi_plugin.c (439)]: HttpFilterProc [/examples/jsp/index.html] is a servlet url - should redirect to ajp12 [jk_isapi_plugin.c (461)]: HttpFilterProc check if [/examples/jsp/index.html] is points to the web-inf directory [jk_uri_worker_map.c (175)]: Into jk_uri_worker_map_t::uri_worker_map_free [jk_uri_worker_map.c (326)]: Into jk_uri_worker_map_t::uri_worker_map_close [jk_uri_worker_map.c (334)]: jk_uri_worker_map_t::uri_worker_map_close, NULL parameter [jk_uri_worker_map.c (184)]: In jk_uri_worker_map_t::uri_worker_map_free, NULL parameters [jk_worker.c (109)]: Into wc_close [jk_worker.c (111)]: wc_close, done Can anyone interpret this, and provide some suggestions for how I can get Tomcat and IIS to play together nicely?
