Tomcat 4.1.29 getRemoteHost() returns null

Hi
   I am using Tomcat 4.1.29 with JK connector. The api
request.getRemoteHost() returns null.
   I also made enableLookup=true in the connector properties  Is there
anything else i need to configure ?
