Is this all being done with the portable antenna analyzers? Those can be surprisingly susceptible to nearby BCB stations that are out of ham bands, but detected by the analyzer and influencing the measured numbers/curves. These little analyzers are completely useless at my QTH (100V Pk-Pk

Hello Fellow Topbanders: I have just started the process of converting a MLA-2500 amplifier from it's original 8875 tubes to Gi-7b tubes. Current;y I can run only abut 400 watts on Topband, (not from the MLA=2500, I have no tubes for it) The conversion requires a RF Choke in the filament

After watching and drooling over the reports of the past few days where the mainland is working DX like 20 meters, the propagation gods have moved to the Pacific. Today I arose and hit the button at 1500Z and right there on the dial was OH3XR calling CQ, 579 signal, I thought it was a pirate

Hi, Is it really necessary to isolate the vertical from the pressure treated 4 x 4 with PVC tubing and is it really necessary to install a 1:1 balun between the antenna and feedline in this 4-square receiving array? Doug Think of all the ways you can hurt yourself laughing. -Original

Hello Mike! I have built a linear using a GI46 tube (nearly a GI7B, only the cooler is a bit better). You see it at www.hoeppe.name I used 1mm wire CuL on a 1/2 ferrite rod. The rule is as much as possible. On 160m the inductance will drop significantly, causing that some of your RF on the

Hi, Mike Well, I would think that a reactance of perhaps 150-200 ohms at 160 ( if your conversion includes 160) would be sufficient. That should be sufficiently large relative to the tubes' input impedances that it shouldn't have much of an effect on the amp's input impedance. If you try to make
