The station is setup on 160 meters and waiting for the Stew at 11 AM
Eastern Daylight Time. My NVIS antenna is not going to be a world beater
but I'll work a few..assuming we don't have an Emergency Room trip yet

In my experience, the answer is no to both questions - although a full
size inverted L , while being a very effective transmit antenna can be a
really noisy receive antenna. Can you go out in the woods and hang a flag,

BTW I've worked some good stuff all round the world on 160 with a 70 foot
tall Inv L with two elevated radials that ran along my lot lines.
For receiving, the 'KAZ terminated loop is delta shape and it could be
supported by one line at the apex, and the ends could be tied off

The so called KAZ is a receiving Delta loop. I ran into the KAZ name when
Broadcast Band SWL's were purchasing transformers from me. This was well

had further developed the small Delta loop for optimum on 1.830 MHZ. It has

Well, the KAZ antenna is named for Neil Kazaross one of the original
designers that optimized the terminated delta loop for MW broadcast
reception. The 10' X 40' K KAZ that I threw together some years ago, worked
wonders for me on 160 on my modest city lot with no room for beverages.
Ive had a ZC since 1986 and its been used pretty hard in contests and DXing
but I keep it around 1200W. The original Eimacs are still putting out full
power.
The only problem spot is on the front wafer where the 160M padder tap is
right next to the ceramic insulator for the switch hardware.
I have been using a Amp Supply LK500za on 160 for several years now, with no
issues. I did upgrade the PS board with the Harbach board. There are some
cooling mods I would recommend doing. Before I did the cooling mod, I
melted the solder out of one of the pins on the 3-500z. You may need

I have been listening on 160m this afternoon hoping to catch a local guy
or two.
I have not been on the air for weeks so I am wondering what time we
might be able to hear signals on the band. I am in MI and I have no
idea when the band will begin to open up other than when its dark out.
Anyone know what is going on at Idiom Press? I placed 2 orders with them
online, so far after 4 weeks no response at all either email or phone
(voicemail full). My credit card was billed for one order, but that took 10
days to show up, the other has not been billed to my card yet.
