Mike,
I have been very vocal with and to the ARRL about their
LACK OF INTESTINAL FORTITUDE when it comes to
"do as I say, not as I do." Many of the w1aw/x
(emphasis not added) operators have been told not to
violate the DX window, but they continue to operate
there with impunity.
The question beg

The DX Windows dated few decades ago, from the time US stations used to
transmit 1800 to 1810 and listening in the DX windows 1825 to 1830 , all
because the band was packed with LORAN signals, to work JA the DX window was
1907 to 1913. I may be wrong with some frequencies, Call CQ and tu
members. Can you imagine a successful TB contest where KH8 and KH2 cont
the same as Hawaii? Or even worse where KP2 counts the same as KP1? What
is it about this that the highly salaried ARRL nabobs do not get?
The ARRL 160 contest is an ARRL contest centered around the ARRL, much like

As to the ARRL 160 being "sweepstakes for 160", I personally find I net
more USA/Canada QSO's in ARRL 160 than I ever do during sweepstakes. I'm
sure many DX don't see the point, but there's no denying it is a very
popular ARRL contest that stirs up a lot of 160M activity.

I guess if we are to take the rules as written anyone can park in the so

split in a contest would result in further problems and QRM and as such
is a non-starter. it is better to be able to hear and deal with
properly what eve
The ARRL 160 meter contest is this weekend. I know there has been a lot of
controversy in the past about the 1830 to 1835 segment (the so-called "DX

in that window and call CQ (but I can answer a CQ from a DX sta
Thanks Dale N3BNA for that!
A great man with a crazy idea to activate Haiti on topband :-)

Regardless of the utility of the "DX window", if you call CQ there,
you will be plagued by scores of "window police" to remind you not
to CQ there.

Sorry, I meant to type "... some of the more experienced *Topbanders* ..."
While we're at it, how does this apply to the Stew Perry this month?

Thanks to everyone for their advice on Haiti! Within a minute of my first
CQ on 160M, I was called by 4V1JR from Haiti!!!
160M was noise free for me both nights in CQ WW, complete absence of any
atmospheric noise, and was just superb for me to hear EU Saturday night in
CQ WW. The biggest surprise
