Very interesting, reading as always,
This brings me to another question, how do I need to handle grounds in a switch
box with 3 antennas ?

Hi Don,
Thanks for your reply.
My bev system has 3 bevs starting from the same point, 330º , 0º and 45º.
I understand what you mean but unfortunately I think the relays are not a
good solution for me because imagine I am doing SO2R, R1 on 160m using 45º
bev and R2 on 80m using 330º bev. This
Hi Felipe,
As W4ZV noted in his posting, three meter ground rod spacing was
not enough when he brought multiple Beverages to a common point.
A much better solution is to use inexpensive hermetically sealed
relays to connect only the selected Beverage to a single ground rod.

Hi Mike,
If you must use a single ground rod for multiple Beverages, the
ONLY active connections to the ground rod should be the
connections to the selected Beverage. All other connections
to that ground rod should be disconnected.
You should use only hermetically sealed relays f or

Un-hook with relays, the not in use, Beverage wires before the Beverage
transformer, (one and two wire systems.).

If using this method for a pair of two- wire beverages, all FOUR ground
wires would need to be switched individually, not 2 and 2? Will simple SPST
relays work or do they need to be RF rated? Thank you.

I agree. We have been thinking of switching at the coax cable location. Will
Serious multi-op contest stations face this issue all the time.
Most use individual band filters and they almost completely eliminate
the issue.
At our station we used the Dunestar filters for operating positions on
different bands. As for 160 I personally use the KD9SV "front end saver"
I agree. We have been thinking of switching at the coax cable location. Will
need to correct my Beverage notes page.
The W4ZV and W3LPL method will work.

Now that we are 'sort of in post contest season mode' and sharing some good
ideas, there is another question:
During recent Field-day setups I noticed severe cross-talk issues between TX
antennas and the separate RX antenna circuits.
For sure any TX/R relay circuitry offers roughly 50-65 dB

I've done this for 31 years from 3 different locations with no problems.

And this becomes even more critical if your RX antennas offer less gain like
from a BOG where its output level is much lower, near the local background
noise.
